What is Congress?
Congressional Debate is modeled after the United States Congress, where students deliver speeches and answer questions based on a given topic. Students can write their own topics, which are called “Bills” or “Resolutions”, so if you want to debate an area you are passionate about, you can!
In Congress, each student performs a 3 minute speech, followed by one minute of questioning. A person known as the Presiding Officer will monitor the time of your speech, and will provide signals at specific times.
